    Associate Dean, Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management, Cornell University

    Michael Nowlis serves as Associate Dean of the Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University. He previously was the Dean of the Center for Corporate and Professional Education at Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, New Jersey (USA) and as Director of the International Executive Program at Stockholm School of Economics. Nowlis is an active management consultant, providing business advisory services to multinational corporations, government agencies, academic institutions and trade associations in the travel and tourism sectors. He previously served as Director General and Chief Executive Officer of the International Hotel & Restaurant Association representing hospitality operators, national hotel/restaurant associations and industry suppliers in more than 150 countries. His professional activities have taken him to more than 100 countries. Frequently recognized by the industry for his contributions to the field of hospitality, Nowlis has received numerous citations and awards. Among these honors, he received the NIFDA Foodservice Educator of the Year Award and the Annual Award for the Promotion of International Tourism presented by the Pacific Area Travel Writers Association (PATWA). Upon graduation from the Culinary Institute of America, he received the Richard T. Keating Award for “Student Most Likely to Succeed”.

  • Maud Bailly
    Accor Chief Digital Officer in charge of Digital, Distribution, Sales and Information Systems

    Maud Bailly began her higher education at Ecole Normale Supérieure, where she studied Modern Literature. She then obtained a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris (Sciences Po) and is also a graduate of the Ecole Nationale d’Administration (ENA). She started her career in 2007 at the Inspection Générale des Finances. After several audit assignments in France and abroad, she joined the SNCF where she received training in rail traffic safety certification before being appointed Director of Paris Montparnasse station and Deputy Director of TGV product coordination for the Paris Rive Gauche area. In 2014, she became Director of Trains. In this capacity, she was responsible for coordinating the network and transforming the professions of the SNCF’s 10,000 ticket collectors and 3,000 station agents. In May 2015, she joined French Prime Minister Manuel Vall’s office as Head of the economic department responsible for budget, fiscal, industrial and digital affairs. She left in December 2016, returning to the Inspection Générale des Finances to lead an assignment on the issues of the connected vehicle. In April 2017, Maud Bailly joined Accor as Chief Digital Officer in charge of Digital, Distribution, Sales and Information Systems. She is a member of the group’s Executive Committee. On May 2018 29th, Maud has joined the French Digital Council, (CNNum), a 30 people circle nominated by the French Minister of Digital to study digital-related topics, with a focus on stakes & perspective of the digital transition of French society, economy, companies, organizations, public action and territories. Additionally, Maud is very committed to coaching and teaching, she gives regular trainings on performance, digital transformation stakes and organizations.


    David is an established hospitality, travel and technology leader, supporting a variety of media and B2B SaaS companies in a partner, advisory & board capacity following his exit from SnapShot, in Summer 2018.Having been involved with revenue management, distribution and hotel analytics for more than 20 years, David has worked to develop from grassroots some of the most forward thinking hotels and hotel companies such as designhotels, citizenM and 25hours to name a few. In addition to speaking at events around the world, David’s passion for education has led him to work with various universities including ESSEC, University of Surrey and Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL) as well as take an active role with industry associations including HEDNA (Co-Chair Hotel Analytics Workgroup) and HSMAI (Revenue Management Advisory Board). Originally from Glasgow, David was delighted in October 2018 to be appointed as a Global Scot, in co-ordination with Scotands’ newly launched investment & innovation hub in Berlin, contributing to a worldwide network of entrepreneurial and inspirational business leaders, dedicated to supporting Scotland’s most ambitious companies.

    In Moscow since 1995, David Jenkins joined the Radisson Hotel Group in 2015 as Vice President Business Development for the region covering Russia, Baltics, CIS, Ukraine, Georgia, Balkans and Israel. This followed on from a 10-year period as one of the most respected hotel consultants in the Russian market with JLL, Cushman & Wakefield, DTZ and Horwath. Prior to consulting, David spent 8 years with Interstate in Moscow working for the Marriott properties. David has a degree in Hospitality Management and now has over 25 years of experience in the industry from operations, consulting and development.

  • Murat YILMAZ
    Vice President Business Development, Deutsche Hospitality

    Mr. Yilmaz has joined as VP Business Development for Deutsche Hospitality in 2017, and responsible for leading, sourcing and executing the growth strategy of Deutsche Hospitality portfolio of five brands in Eastern and Southern Europe. Mr. Yilmaz can look back more than 25 years of experience in the branch, during which time he has worked for leading hotel companies in Germany, Russia, Hungary, Romania, Kazakhstan, Belgium and Turkey. He brings comprehensive expertise to the table in the areas of business development, asset management, real estate development, finance and hotel management and operations. He worked for Dorint, Marriott, Hilton, Dedeman, Capital Partners and recently Mr. Yilmaz was employed by Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, where he was Senior Director of Acquisitions & Development for Central Europe and Turkey.

  • Eduard de Gispert
    EMEA Expansion Director, Barcelo Hotels & Resorts

    Eduard de Gispert joined Barceló Hotels & Resorts 17 years ago, and currently manages the expansion & development activities for the EMEA division at BARCELO HOTELS & RESORTS. Eduard features more than 20 years working at the hotel sector. He started his career at HOTELES HESPERIA in Barcelona as the Managing Director’s deputy being the controller and also studying new expansion projects. Then he joined to BARCELÓ HOTELS & RESORTS with same position reporting to the City Hotels Division’s Managing Director, and with special dedication to the expansion activities. At that time, Barceló Group only featured 7 city hotels overall. In 2006 he was appointed EMEA Expansion Director for the city hotels and later on for holiday hotels as well, position that he currently manages. Nowadays the City Hotels Division has more than 50 hotels. Furthermore, Eduard has been strategic consultant at DELOITTE in BARCELONA. Eduard has a Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineer by the Telecommunications University from UPC Barcelona, and completed his postgraduate in 1998 at the MBA IESE in Barcelona.


    Takuya Aoyama is Vice President of Acquisitions and Development at Hyatt International and is responsible for expanding the portfolio of Hyatt brands in Russia, Central and Eastern Europe. Prior to joining Hyatt in 2008, he spent six years in Tokyo as Assistant Vice President Purchasing & Development Japan, Korea and Micronesia at Starwood Hotels & Resorts. Takuya began working in the hotel industry in the early 1990s and held positions in major companies such as Saison Group, Holiday Inn Worldwide and Andersen, focusing on projects in the former Soviet Union and Central and Eastern Europe.

Înainte de a se alatura IHG, Miguel a creat Polish Hotel Company, care a fost responsabila de dezvoltarea brandului Holiday Inn Express din Polonia. Miguel a supravegheat Holiday Inn Express Warsaw Airport de la proiectare, finantarea, coordonarea cu IHG si supravegherea constructiilor, pana la deschidere si management.

  • Thomas Landen

    Within his position, Thomas he is responsible for Revinate’s partner ecosystem. This entails identifying and creating strategic partnerships to strengthen the integrations for Revinate’s hospitality CRM. Prior to Revinate, Thomas gained more than ten years of international marketing and sales experience and held positions at The Fairmont San Francisco, St. Andrews Bay in Scotland and TBA Global Marketing. Thomas has a degree in Hotel Management from Hotelschool The Netherlands and master’s degree in marketing. He is a Dutch native who loves exploring the world with his family.


    In his current role, Peter has successfully set up within SGS the global services offered to the Travel & Hospitality industry by consolidating and customizing international standards that cover areas such as Safety, Security, Service, Sustainability and Training, with regards to inspection, verification, testing, certification and consultancy. His contributions to the robust performance of SGS’ global strategic unit for travel and hospitality stems from his more than two decades of broad international experience within hotels, the corporate travel industry, MICE and technology.

  • Adam Konieczny
    Development Director Europe, Louvre Hotels Group

    Adam Konieczny joined Louvre Hotels Group in May 2017 as Development Director for Poland and Eastern Europe. His goal was to develop the brands of the group through franchise, management and lease contracts in the region. Currently he is responsible for Group development in Europe and supervise regional development managers. Previously he was a Country Head Poland at Christie & Co. Based in Warsaw, he was responsible for identifying hotel opportunities across Poland and CEE for the development and expansion of the company in the region. He has been involved in a number of advisory and valuation assignments as well as operator search and section processes. In 2016 Adam was involved in sale of two 4-star hotels in Wrocław and Gdańsk on behalf of an American fund. Prior to Christie & Co, Adam worked several years as a Senior Consultant in the hospitality area, at DTZ´s (now Cushman & Wakefield) hospitality department in Warsaw. Adam Konieczny has a Master of Arts in Management from Warsaw School of Economics and a Master of Science in Real Estate from Sheffield Hallam University, UK. He also obtained a Certificate in Hotel Real Estate Investments and Asset Management from Cornell University. Adam is a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).

Before coming to InterContinental Bucharest as a Revenue Manager, Melania handled the Revenue Management Centre for Central and Southeast Europe of Radisson Hotels Group as Senior Cluster Revenue Manager, covering 10 hotels in the region, with very successful results in exceeding the targets and coaching her new colleagues in charge with the revenue management in new hotels.

  • Mihai Jurca
    Director Executiv, Asociatia pentru promovarea turismului din Oradea si regiune

    Dedicated and focused professional, Mihai Jurca is the executive director of one of the few Destination Management Organization (D.M.O.) in Romania, Visit Oradea. Founded as a public private partnership in 2014 and responsible for the marketing strategy of the city, the tourism policies and the event agenda in Oradea, the D.M.O. led by Mihai Jurca has registered a yearly growth of the tourist inbound of over 20%, 2017 being the first year when the number of tourists exceeded the number of inhabitants. With a background in business development, Mihai, is one of the team members that set up the revitalization plan for the city of Oradea. Before being the manager of the tourist department of the city, Jurca was for 4 years, 2010-2014 the business development manager of the Industrial platforms of the city. Having the main responsibility in attracting investors, he contributed exponentially in attracting some of the biggest foreign direct investments in the city. Over 250 million euros in FDI and more that 3000 new jobs are numbers that the industrial platforms brought to the city. He started working for the public administration in 2008, just after graduating from the faculty of International Relations and European Studies, as project manager in the department for EU funding at the city hall of Oradea and Oradea Metropolitan Area. Most of the main infrastructure and development plans of the city, based on EU funding, were submitted from 2008-2011.

    Borivoj Vokrinek (Borik) is leading the Strategic Advisory & Hospitality Research for EMEA region at Cushman & Wakefield, which is one of the largest real estate services firms with approximately 51,000 employees in 400 offices and 70 countries. Borik has more than 20 years’ experience across Europe, Africa, Middle East and Asia Pacific. Prior to joining C&W, Borik was Regional Vice President Feasibility & Development Finance for EMEA & South-West Asia at Hyatt Hotels Corporation. He also spent more than six years at Hilton Worldwide, where he was heading the Feasibility & Investment Analysis team in Europe & Africa region, based both at Hilton’s EMEA HQ in UK and in Istanbul. Borik’s exposure to Asia Pacific market include 2 years in Shanghai and nearly 3 years in Sydney (where he worked for Cushman & Wakefield and HVS). Borik gained his operational experience in Prague as hotel manager at Hidden Places, Residences & Boutique hotels. He holds 4 degrees including a Bachelor in Economics and a Master of Science in International Economic Relations from the University of Economics in Prague, as well as a Bachelor in Hotel Management from the Hotel School Sydney and an MBA from Bond University in Gold Coast, Australia. In addition to his professional career, Borik is also Lecturer of Hotel Development & Asset Management Specialisations at Glion Institute of Higher Education, Switzerland.

  • Carlos Paredes

    Carlos Paredes is a graduate from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid where he studied Business Administration with focus in the touristic sector and is MBA by ICEX-CECO Business School. He started his career in 2006 when he was selected to join the programm for young talents in one of the biggest and leading companies in Spain, El Corte Inglés. During this time Carlos juggled his studies with working at Viajes el Corte Ingles where he spent 5 years working in several positions related with different areas in the company. After spending 5 years in Viajes El Corte Inglés Carlos starts working for the spanish goverment conducting analysis of the hotel industry in the UK and Ireland from the Spanish Embassy in Dublin and for the CIS countries from the Spanish Embassy in Kyiv. After some years he starts his career in the hotel industry being in charge of Hotel Development in the Americas Region for Melia Hotels International first and expanding now the portfolio of Hotusa Group in CIS countries and Central and Eastern Europe.

  • Catalina Toma
    Development Manager SEE, Accor

    Catalina is the current Accor Development Manager for South-Eastern Europe. Even young, over the 10 years of experience she held different positions working mainly for AccorHotels. Catalina started working for AccorHotels, first in 2009, before the Group being divided between Hotels and Services, which is today Edenred – a worldwide player in pre-paid vouchers and card for employees benefits. After almost 7 years of experience in Edenred she left to join the hospitality direction for AccorHotels South Eastern Europe team. Based in Bucharest office, Catalina started as a Development Analyst SEE in the newly created team in February 2016 and in September 2017, she was promoted for the position of Development Executive in charge of asset-light contracts in Romania, Bulgaria and Republic of Moldova. Catalina is also member of the Orbis Shadow Committee, a special committee formed with millennials in charge with several projects as part of the company’s strategy. Catalina speaks three foreigner languages beside the mother language: English, Spanish and French. She is also a fan of nature walking and hiking and healthy food, especially raw-vegan desserts.
